Eat, Drink, Play and Fun in Penang, 3D2N

This is a long overdue trip..
We had been talking about the trip for a really long time.
So, finally we made it on 28-29Jun.

Was with 2 close friends during this domestic exploration for food, and heritage trails.
We started the drive quite late as SJS needed to go through the
unusually standstill traffic in the city. Nevertheless, we still made a detour to Ipoh for tongsui at Tongsui Kai, my favourite. We settled at stall NO. 40 and had barley-fuchu, redbean, sweet potato and kok-kuih. The surprise was actually the wanton noodle from a friendly uncle's stall. The noodle was so crunchy and the sauce was just right for its taste. We actually returned for it on the way back from Penang last night. The other pleasant surprise was the lotus flowers from an old man on motorcycle. We bought the flowers as a token for our Penangite HK.

We started our food exploration at a friend's fruit orchard at Teluk Kumbang. Although not a fantastic taste, we had good time in the orchard after enjoying the durians and the coconut drinks, all were fresh harvests from the trees. We then took a leisure hike at Penang Botanical Garden before dinner. What did we have for dinner? Yes, the vegetarian Penang food at Lily's. We strongly recommend Popiah and Green Curry Rice, others were just mediocre.

We strolled down along Armenian Street on Sunday morning to begin the heritage trail. Started from kongsis like Khoo, Cheah, Yap, KuanYin temple, Kapitan Kling mosque & etc. The favourites were TeoChew & Cheong Fatt Tze (although we didn't enter CFT due to our time constraint). These mansions are so rich in color and architecture to tell the Chinese culture and lifestyle in the older days. Like to compliment Penangites for the preseverence in preserving these old buildings.

Penang is truely a wonderful place for food, and for historical connection to the older days of Malaysian.

A truely enjoyable trip!
